The Yale team brings outstanding expertise across the basic-clinical stroke research spectrum. Lauren Sansing, MD, MS (Principal Investigator) is a stroke physician-scientist with over 10 years of experience in translational stroke research in murine models, patient biological samples, and stroke clinical trials. Ligia Simoes Braga Boisserand, PhD (Project Manager) has over 9 years of experience in stroke models and behavioral testing.  Dr. Fahmeed Hyder, PhD, Director of high-field horizontal small-bore systems at Yale’s Magnetic Resonance Research Center (MRRC), and   Basavaraju Sanganahalli Ganganna, PhD, will lead the in vivo MRI imaging for the proposed studies.   The Yale team also includes experts in both clinical (Kevin Sheth, MD, Charles Matouk, MD) and basic (Jaime Grutzendler, MD, Jiangbing Zhou, PhD) cerebrovascular research as well as pulmonary infection modeling (Charles Dela Cruz, MD, PhD). Together the investigators bring exceptional expertise to translational stroke research and will work together with the SPAN network to test candidate therapies in multiple models, review emerging data, and assist in the interpretation of the clinical relevance of murine outcomes and potential feasibility of interventions in patients.
